Captain's Wood, with it's ancient trees and wild flowers has an open airy feel, where fallow deer roam through one of the greatest expanses of bluebells in the county of Suffolk.
A delightful English woodland filled with bluebells ...
The wood dates back to the Middle Ages and has a wonderful feel, especially over the next couple of weeks whilst the native bluebells are flowering. It's a lovely, scenic cycle* ride from Suffolk Yurt Holidays, through the quiet country lanes via Butley and Chillisford.
Once one has experienced the peace and magic of the woods, it's only a couple of miles cycle to the historic and beautiful coastal village of Orford and the superb Pinney's and Pump Street Bakery Cafe
There's still some availability over the next couple of weeks at Suffolk Yurt Holidays, with a Special Offer of 3 nights for £255 for a beautiful, spacious luxury handcrafted Yurt in a sanctuary of wildflower meadows and ancient trees. It's an experience of some of the best of what is quintessentially English!
Hummingbird Hawkmoth Sighting
It's a magical sight to see a hummingbird hawkmoth - and we've seen it for the 1st time this season. It looks like a hummingbird and their wings make an audible hum - very exciting!!
Our son Rob managed to take this photo with a phone camera of the catmint in the garden. It's loved by bees (you can see one in the photo!) and other pollinators.
They feed off the nectar rich wild honeysuckle and lady's bedstraw and sweet woodruff that's in our wildflower meadow and hopefully will be seen there ...
