There are truly an abundance of foot paths and cycle routes to explore in this area of Suffolk right from the end of our lane, so bring your walking boots and bikes to discover the delights of this beautiful county. 

The river Deben is just down the road sailing, rowing, windsurfing, kayaking, canoeing and paddling boarding can all be enjoyed here. Bring your own equipment or ask us about rental or tuition. There are so many water sports to enjoy and it is so much fun! 


There are many wonderful walks in this part of Suffolk with its Nature Reserves (see Nature section above), Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and from the historic villages of the Suffolk Heritage Coast (see Towns, Villages & Historic Sites section). 

The many footpaths throughout the area, are covered in the 212 & 231 Explorer & 156 Landranger OS Maps (available from us on loan or to buy).


There are also more than 70 FREE Suffolk walks available from Discover Suffolk.


This is the perfect place for Suffolk Cycling Holidays, with Bredfield being on the National Route 1, which can link up with the on road National Cycle Network along the Coast.  


This passes through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. 

The quiet country lanes and off road routes provide a delightful cycling experience (Suffolk Cycle maps are available from us on loan or to buy) .  Alternatively, plan a route online with Cycle Streets.

For those who want to bring their bikes for the excellent cycling in the area, one of our stables has lockable bike storage. There is also bike hire with a delivery and collection service and guided day cycle routes from our site for Guests through Steve at East Coast Mountain Biking   Pre-booking is advisable.

Much of the character of the area is influenced by the sea and rivers and there are boat trips taking place from Orford, Walberswick (please see towns and villages section). 


There are also delightful trips with "The Oystercatcher" and  "The Jahan" from Waldringfield Boat Yard from April - Sept  t: 01473 736260 on the tranquil , wildlife rich (kingfishers, otters and seals have been seen, plus a wide array of birdlife) Deben River to Ramsholt, Bawdsey Manor, Woodbridge and Sutton Hoo.
